I thought it was important to say ....
Thursday Evening we did a KB Circuit style session. It was excellent and once it was over I felt that I had worked every muscle in my body. There was such a mixture of activities, I felt like I never really caught my breath in the whole time we did the 10 stations - and then we did it a second time. In a nutshell we did each station for one minute with a 20 second rest in between each exercise.
I enjoy the KB routines that we have done the last few months…

Wanted to blast the class last night so decided on the 20/20 challenge. The class hasn't done this before so I was a little worried that they would be able to handle it - or indeed want to try it.
Have mentioned this before but the challenge is 20 KB Swings followed by 20 push ups, then 20 swings and 19 push up, 20 swings and 18 push ups, and so on. Yep, 20 swings each time then descending push ups.
I have only done this myself twice previously so was looking forward to seeing how it went. The…

I was sent this link yesterday of a short movie clip. I am sure I have seen it before but watched it through again as it does remind you to take stock.
We all seem to be in such a rush these days and never have time for the important things in life. This is like when I talk to clients about needing to fix there physical problems/injuries or even guiding those onto a cleaner lifestyle to improve their health and wellbeing.
It appears many, or even most people will not blink an eyelid at spendin…

Week 4 of our new core mobility class and a full house again - 13 members. I always find the class runs smoother with a full or near full class as the atmosphere is so much better. Tonight was a warm one but we still need to get the body mobile before launching into the main exercises.
I think some of the class are still getting used to me and my sense of humour. Still some blank faces when asking if they understand my instructions or what they are supposed to be doing.
We stepped it up a litt…

I'm so glad that Summer is here. Why? Well it signals the end of the mad period of work between January and May. All my students have just finished their revision courses, they are busy prepping for exams, and that means my work is done...at least until the September intake.
So, no more hotels and good food and hours spent standing in one place. It's time to lose some weight, eat properly, S-T-R-E-T-C-H (whose catch phrase is that....Martin?), dust off those kettlebells, get the bike out of the…

sorry to those that have received an email or some form of contact from a female in the states. Don't get involved as I think it is just some sort of scam. I have had them before from the same girl in the photo but with a different names.
I have banned her from the site. As the administrator, it's my site and I can do what I want!

So my personal training hasn't been going great guns for some months. Mainly due to being quite busy with other peoples training and not wanting to then train late at night. So, on one of the forums I belong to , Dax Moy is having a little bit of a guinea pig training programme challenge. This is where personal trainers can ask their peers to participate in one of their programmes to see how it works and what sort of results you get. They can then unleash these programmes on their clients knowin…

Wasn't going to join in the class tonight as have other plans for training this month. So why not unleash another tough session on the class?
Usual mobility warm up then;
Floor press x10 each side
BOR x10 each side
OHP x10 each side
Reverse Lunge x10 each side
straight through with no rest, all with Kettlebells and X5 SETS.
We waited until everyone finished the set then gave them another 30 seconds recovery, then go again.
This took everyone between 24 - 25 minutes to complete and works all…

Stole a session from Jon Le Tocq and his worlds toughest workouts website as wanted to inject some new workouts to my Thursday gang.
After a warm up, went through the following;
20 Swings each side
20 Snatches total
20 Swings es
20 Jerks total
20 Swings es
20 single arm rows total
20 Swings es
20 Squats total
no rest at all but if anyone finished a set before others, they had to perform round the worlds.
This super workout took exactly 10 minutes.
Not part of Jon's workout but we filled the…

Have been following a thread on another forum about what people have done to make their business more successful in the last 3 days.
There are a group of trainers over in Thailand on a "Super Camp" to develop their businesses further. They have been reporting back to the forum on their endeavours but the main theme has not been about what they have been working on, but their "freetime" activities and how great the villa they are stying in is. Well, a few of the forum followers have descended in…

As those that attend any of my classes or personal training sessions can testify to, I always recommend that you train barefoot whenever possible. Basically, this is how we were "designed" to perform. Not to be bound up in shoes or trainers that affect the way our feet, and hence the rest of our body, performs.
When wearing shoes constantly, our feet lose their mobility and the soft tissues become weak as they are not required to carry out their natural tasks - use it or lose it!
Take a look a…

Haven't done this for a while so here goes.
Last nights class was compact! Decided to put the group through a test and went for a 5 minute Snatch test.
After a mobility warm-up plus some swings and ohp's, we got into the Snatch test. We haven't done anything like this before with this group so it was going to be interesting to see if we could even finish it. The deal was that the kettlebell couldn't touch the floor between start and finish. You could only change hands once during the 5 minutes…

I was watching River Cottage last night, waiting for Secret Millionair to start. I quite like Hugh Fearnley Whittingham and his ramblings.
I missed the first half but turned it on just as he was starting to talk about the benefits of Organic foods over regular. He was specifically talking about Chickens and how they are reared. There was some senior food scientist on there that has researched the health benefits and specifically, the nutrient content of standard, battery and free range (organic…

Yep, last week saw the completion of the 30 day waist away challenge, where there was no alcohol, no processed food, no additives, no crap basically, just veg, fruit, fish, meat and water!
I haven't gone through this for a few years now and previously I manage the food side of things but not cutting out the alcohol. That was the main "itch" this time but not as bad as I thought. I will have to look into the available sauces to go with cooked dinners though.
The results I got were pretty impres…

Have you ever tried to chase the hare? What about a whippet?
Well, for the last three weeks, I have been playing chase the whippet. This firstly began as a gentle jog over the Lake, along the Parade, up Ship Hill, along the side of Romilly Park, under the tunnel, and then back home.
It's now been extended by including Barry Island, out onto Friars Point, around the Fair Ground and back.
Yesterday, I thought I would up the pace and chase the whippet. I kept up as far as the Barry Island car pa…

Yes, been slack but legitimate reason. Away this past weekend on a learning course for Kinetic Chain Assessment (KCA). This is going to change the way I work big time and truly help clients in pain or suffering with recurring injuries like never before.
I'll also get a post going proving you never have to pay for or use orthotics again!
I will be starting to offer KCA's within the next week once I get my assessment forms set up. Even if you have no problems at present, this assessment will tel…

Not much tonight. Following a 90 minute walk with the boys, decided on a short, sharp session just to keep the Snatches ticking over.
24k KB vertical row x 10
24k KB Bent Over Row x8 each side
24K KB snatch x 10 each side
Repeat again, no rest at all between any.
As I said, short but fairly intense.
Should keep the metabolism burning fast.

Well, I haven't done it for a while so I thought I'd do the 20/20 again tonight as I didn't want to have to think too much of what to do, and I also wanted something fairly quick but effective.
The session is 20 Swings (with 24k) then 20 press ups, 20 Swings followed by 19 press ups, 20 Swings followed by 18 press ups.... and so down to 20 Swings followed by 1 press up.
This is against the clock so any rest wastes time.
I have done this session previously but in reverse where the press ups go…

So, I have always realised how important it is to have set goals in place. This is for fitness and life in general. It was only 10 days ago I sat down and wrote down an updated version of what I wanted to achieve/obtain over the remainder of this year (that sounds crazy as it's only just started).
One goal was that I needed to change my car and get a van type vehicle. If you have seen my poor little Fiesta over the last year or so, you'd understand!
The back end was weighted down with all the…
